Illegal trade barriers such as unfair foreign pricing or government subsidies can block or harm U.S. industry access to foreign markets, which can impact businesses in the plastics industry.

The Department of Commerce, U.S. Trade Representative and the U.S. International Trade Commission all work to monitor foreign country compliance with trade laws and agreements and impose trade sanctions, if necessary, when a violation is found.

U.S. businesses or industries can petition the government to investigate if they believe a foreign producer or government is engaging in illegal trade practices.
